Daniel W. Akins

Special Preferred Stock Designee

Daniel W. Akins was appointed to our Board of Directors in May 2023 and serves on the Safety Committee. 

Akins is a transportation economist with four decades of experience consulting on financial and operational analysis, contract costing and negotiation support across the commercial transportation industry.

He is a founding partner at Flightpath Economics, LLC, and principal at his consulting firm Akins and Associates, Inc. where he provides economic and data analysis counsel to airlines, airports and labor organizations, among other clients.  He is also the co-founder and president of the Airline Workforce Alliance, an educational and advocacy nonprofit.

Throughout his career, Akins has consulted on collective bargaining agreements for pilots, flight attendants, dispatchers, mechanics, ramp agents and other union groups at American Airlines, Alaska Airlines, FedEx, Hawaiian Airlines, Southwest Airlines, United Airlines, United Parcel Service, Allegiant Air, Frontier Airlines and others. 

Akins received a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Gustavus Adolphus College and a postgraduate diploma in economics from the London School of Economics.

He is the Association of Flight Attendants (AFA) designee to our Board of Directors.
