Daniel Chun serves as regional vice president of Hawai‘i for Alaska Airlines. Following the completion of Alaska’s merger with Hawaiian Airlines, he oversees community and cultural relations, government affairs, and Hawai‘i sales for the combined company in the Islands.
Daniel has more than two decades of experience in Hawai‘i’s tourism industry, starting at the Hawai‘i Visitors and Convention Bureau, where he helped develop international travel to the Islands. He then served for seven years as the special assistant to the state of Hawai‘i’s governor-appointed tourism liaison, coordinating with government agencies and the visitor industry on tourism-related matters. Prior to joining Alaska, he was executive director of the Honolulu Gay & Lesbian Cultural Foundation, an umbrella organization for the Honolulu Rainbow Film Festival. In 2019, he was appointed to the Hawai‘i Tourism Authority Board of Directors by former Governor David Ige and served until June 2022.
Born and raised in Honolulu, Daniel is a graduate of the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in travel industry management. He studied commercial aviation and obtained his private pilot license from Honolulu Community College and the University of North Dakota. In the community, he currently serves on the boards of the Public Schools of Hawai‘i Foundation, Aloha United Way, Hawai‘i Lodging & Tourism Association and the University of Hawai‘i Alumni Association.
