Terry Hill was named managing director of safety at Hawaiian Airlines in July 2024. He is responsible for the carrier’s safety culture and leads all aspects of safety, security, and regulatory compliance programs.
Terry joined Hawaiian Airlines in July 2015 and has more than 30 years of combined military aviation and commercial airline experience. Starting as a line mechanic, he performed daily turns and overnight maintenance on Hawaiian’s Boeing 767 and Airbus A330 fleets. He was later promoted to leadership positions overseeing the airline’s safety management systems, programs, and analytics teams, playing a pivotal role in safety and operational risk management, safety assurance, safety promotion, and other policy initiatives.
A U.S. Navy veteran, Terry spent three years at Marine Corps Base Hawai‘i, attached to Patrol Squadron Four (VP-4), overseeing aircraft maintenance and enlisted aircrew initiatives in support of worldwide military operations. He later spent four additional years with the Commander, Patrol and Reconnaissance Wing Two (CPRW-2), where he led air wing safety, emergency response, and disaster preparedness for seven naval units representing 1,900 personnel.
Terry is an alumnus of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, where he received a master’s degree in aeronautics with a focus on safety in 2023, a bachelor’s degree in aeronautics with a minor in airport management in 2015, and an associate degree in aviation maintenance in 2013.
