Toru Sakaguchi was appointed country director - Japan in 2024. In this role, he oversees Hawaiian’s commercial activities in Japan including growth strategy, business development, and sales and distribution.
Toru brings with him more than 36 years of proven B2B/B2C experience, primarily within the aviation industry, leading sales planning teams spanning the Asia Pacific/Oceania region.
Before Hawaiian, Toru worked at American Airlines for more than 30 years, where he helped build & develop teams that created & executed high-value strategic commercial initiatives scaled across Asia Pacific.
On his appointment, Toru said, “I'm honored to join Hawaiian and excited to advance our brand in Japan so more travelers can enjoy our Hawaiian hospitality and create memorable experiences on their Hawaii vacation."
Born and raised in Japan, Toru holds a bachelor's degree in Economics from Okayama University.
