America West Begins Bookings on Code Share Flights to Hawaii on Hawaiian Airlines

Hawaiian's Daily Nonstop Service Between Phoenix and Honolulu Begins Oct. 11

PHOENIX, Oct 3, 2002 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- America West Airlines, Inc. (NYSE: AWA) and Hawaiian Airlines, Inc. (Amex: HA; PCX) announced today that Hawaiian's daily nonstop flights between Honolulu and Phoenix, which begin Oct. 11, 2002, are now available for booking through America West. Customers may purchase tickets between Phoenix and Honolulu and on connecting flights on Hawaiian's extensive service throughout the Hawaiian Islands as well as on connecting flights between Phoenix and more than 40 of America West's destinations in the United States and Mexico. Tickets may be purchased by calling America West's reservations center at 1-800-2-FLY-AWA (1-800-235-9292) or by contacting a professional travel agent.

The frequent flyer provisions of this agreement allow members of America West's FlightFund and Hawaiian's HawaiianMiles programs to earn frequent flyer mileage credits and use credits for travel awards across the carriers' respective route systems.

"This seamless system will give our customers more convenient access to Hawaii, not to mention the added bonus of getting FlightFund miles for the flights as well," said Dion Flannery, vice president, scheduling and route planning. "Customers who are connecting to Honolulu through Phoenix will also enjoy the ease of receiving boarding passes for both legs of their trip when they check in."

Customers will enjoy the convenience of easy, same-terminal connections at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport as they take advantage of this code share agreement's connecting service to more than three dozen cities that America West serves including such major markets as New York City, Boston, Washington, D.C., Tampa, Denver and Salt Lake City.

"Our partnership with America West provides a tremendous travel option for Hawaii residents and visitors, and effectively extends our reach to anywhere in the country," said John B. Happ, Hawaiian's senior vice president for marketing and sales. "Customers traveling to and from the Midwest or East Coast can have their travel agents book through Phoenix and make easy, seamless connections via America West, while continuing to enjoy all the benefits and awards that come with flying on Hawaiian Airlines."

Code sharing, which allows a carrier to sell flights on another carrier as its own by attaching its two-letter booking code to the other carrier's flights listed in worldwide computer reservations systems, provides customers with more travel options. At check-in, passengers will enjoy the convenience of seamless baggage transfers and will receive boarding passes on both airlines for their connecting code share itineraries.
