HONOLULU – May 29, 2008 - Hana Hou!, the inflight magazine for Hawaiian Airlines, has received the 2008 Maggie Award for Best Travel/In-Transit Consumer magazine from the Western Publications Association.
The Maggies, known as “the Oscars of the magazine industry,” recognize excellence in consumer and trade publications for print and online media and are the most prestigious magazine publishing awards in the western U.S.
This year's awards received nearly 2,000 entries for more than 500 magazines.
The August/September 2007 issue of Hana Hou! with the cover story “Hana‘i Tales” and focus on Hawaiian family values was honored with the Maggie's top award in the travel category.
“We're excited to share this honor with Hawaiian Airlines as Hana Hou! is very much a collaborative effort,” said Michael Shapiro, editor of Hana Hou!. “This is the capstone to an award-winning year – Hana Hou! has earned honors at the Hawai‘i Tourism Authority's Keep it Hawai‘i Awards, the Hawai‘i Publisher's Association's Pa‘i Awards and the Hawai‘i Advertising Federation's Pele Awards.”
