HONOLULU -- Hawaiian Airlines announced today it is adding a second daily nonstop flight to meet demand for its highly popular Las Vegas-Honolulu route – a flight that's perfect for night owls wanting to squeeze every last minute out of their Vegas vacation.
Hawaiian will introduce the additional service with five flights weekly on April 4, 2005, before increasing to daily service starting May 1, 2005. The new flight caters to Vegas regulars who don't go there to sleep, and also offers westbound travelers from points east on the mainland U.S. a new option for one-stop connections to Honolulu.
Flight 17 will depart Las Vegas at 2:45 a.m. and arrive in Honolulu at 5:55 a.m. The return Flight 18 will depart Honolulu at 2:15 p.m. and arrive in Las Vegas at 10:45 p.m.
Mark Dunkerley, president and chief operating officer of Hawaiian Airlines, says that Hawaii residents who frequent Las Vegas will especially appreciate the 'midnight madness' departure from Hawaii's top vacation destination.
“For those people who can't get enough of the nightlife in Las Vegas, this new flight lets them make the most of their last day on vacation,” said Dunkerley. “They can enjoy a nice dinner, catch a show, hit the casinos one last time and be back home by morning.”
Hawaiian's flight schedule for booking Las Vegas-Honolulu is as follows:

Customers can book flights via the airline's Web site at HawaiianAir.com. Reservations can also be made by calling Hawaiian toll-free at 1-800-367-5320 from the U.S. mainland or Canada, or through any professional travel agent. In Hawaii, reservations can be made from Oahu at 838-1555, or the Neighbor Islands by calling toll-free at 1-800-882-8811.
The added flight also enhances Hawaiian's network connecting travelers with Hawaii. With Las Vegas being a major hub for America West Airlines – Hawaiian's frequent flyer partner – travelers east of the Rockies can spend a full day in their departure city, catch an evening flight to Las Vegas, make the 'night-owl' connection and be in Honolulu early the next morning – or even connect to Australia the same day on Hawaiian's new Sydney service.
The benefit to customers with travel itineraries connecting America West and Hawaiian is they earn point-to-point roundtrip mileage credits that can be redeemed as travel awards with either Hawaiian's HawaiianMiles or America West's FlightFund frequent flyer programs.
Travel between Las Vegas and Sydney will also be enhanced with same-day connections available in Honolulu in both directions, eliminating the overnight layover for inbound Sydney travelers required under the current flight schedule.
