Hawaiian Airlines Appoints Beau Tatsumura as Director - Line Maintenance

HONOLULU – December 12, 2014 – Hawaiian Airlines has announced the appointment of Beau Tatsumura as director - line maintenance. In this position, he is responsible for maintaining the quality and performance of Hawaiian Airlines’ current fleet of 48 Airbus and Boeing aircraft to ensure reliability and safety. The airline’s current fleet includes 19 Airbus A330-200, 11 Boeing 767-300 and 18 Boeing 717-200 aircraft.

“Beau brings proven leadership and extensive experience in safe airline maintenance practices to Hawaiian Airlines, which will help us tremendously as our business and aircraft fleet continue to grow,” said Lorrin Sardinha, Hawaiian Airlines vice president - maintenance & engineering.

Hawaiian Airlines plans to have 22 A330s total by the end of year 2015, and 16 new narrow body A321neo aircraft by the end of year 2020. Additionally, the company previously announced that it plans to add six new A330-800neo aircraft beginning in 2019.

Tatsumura brings more than 20 years of airline maintenance experience to Hawaiian Airlines. Prior to joining the company, he most recently served as senior director maintenance and engineering at Aeko Kula, Inc. where he oversaw the day-to-day operations and overall safety for Aloha Air Cargo. He also served as general manager of Aloha Tech Ops, which is Aeko Kula, Inc.’s third-party contractor for aircraft maintenance. Prior to this, he spent 18 years at Aloha Airlines where he held numerous aircraft maintenance management and leadership positions. Tatsumura also serves in the 100th Battalion 442D Infantry Regiment and has deployed twice in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2004 to 2006 and from 2008 to 2009.

Tatsumura was born in Honolulu and raised in Kāne‘ohe. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Professional Aeronautics with a minor in Safety from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, where he is also pursuing a Master’s degree in Aeronautical Science.
