Hawaiian Airlines Appoints Hoyt Zia as General Counsel

HONOLULU – Feb. 1, 2007 - Hawaiian Airlines today announced the appointment of Hoyt H. Zia as senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary. The position becomes effective February 19.

A respected lawyer and businessman with deep ties to the local community, Zia replaces David Arakawa who has accepted a position with another company.

“Hoyt's community ties and diverse professional experience, which has included executive positions in government and commercial circles, make him well suited to oversee the myriad legal issues that Hawaiian faces in the day-to-day course of our business,” said Mark Dunkerley, president and CEO of Hawaiian Airlines.

Zia joins Hawaiian Airlines after serving three years as publisher of Hawaii Business magazine. Prior to that, he traveled extensively throughout the Asia-Pacific region to promote the development of telecommunications and related technologies as executive director of the Pacific Telecommunications Council.

He previously served as chief counsel for Export Administration at the US Department of Commerce in Washington, DC and earlier as counsel for Amfac/JMB Hawaii and Motorola. He began his career as an officer in the Marine Corps.

Zia serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Child & Family Service of Hawaii, Pacific Asian Affairs Council, and Hawaii Chapter of the Better Business Bureau. He is a graduate of Dartmouth College and the UCLA School of Law. He was admitted to the Hawaii State Bar Association in 1991.

About Hawaiian Airlines
