Hawaiian Airlines Cancels Flights Due to Closure of U.S. Airports
HONOLULU, September 11, 2001 -- Hawaiian Airlines has announced that it has been advised by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Hawaii State Department of Transportation (HDOT) that all U.S. airports, including all Hawaii airports, have been closed until further notice.
As a result, Hawaiian has cancelled all Transpacific flights, that is those leaving Hawaii and entering Hawaii from points outside Hawaii, until midnight tonight HST. It has also cancelled all of its Interisland flights operating among the islands of Hawaii until 2:00 p.m. HST.
The company will not accept any air cargo shipments until further notice.
Travelers booked on Hawaiian Airlines flights departing today may call toll free 1-888-222-1699 (or, on Oahu, 838-5444) for assistance rebooking their flights. Travelers are advised to monitor media outlets for further information about the status of airports and commercial air travel.
