Hawaiian Airlines Expands Reach to Mexico and Canada

With Enhanced America West Airlines Code Sharing

Seamless Connections and Frequent Flyer Benefits Available to 12 New Cities

HONOLULU, January 7, 2004 -- Hawaiian Airlines and America West Airlines announced that – beginning today – the two carriers have gone international with an expanded code sharing partnership, including service to 12 cities in Mexico and Canada.

Hawaiian's customers can book through Hawaiian Airlines Reservations for eight cities in Mexico served by America West: Acapulco, Cancun, Guadalajara, Hermosillo, Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo, Mexico City, Monterrey, and San Jose Cabo. The four Canadian cities served by the agreement are Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, and Toronto.

"Hawaiian's growing network now offers its customers one-stop check-in and full frequent flyer benefits for their travel throughout the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. It also is making it easier than ever for travelers from all those places to visit Hawaii," said Mark Dunkerley, Hawaiian's president and chief operating officer.

In October, Hawaiian and America West enhanced their code share partnership to allow Hawaiian to provide its customers the convenience and benefits of booking flights from anywhere in Hawaii to more than 50 cities throughout the United States.

Customers booking Hawaiian will receive the same code share benefits for flights to Mexico and Canada. They will be provided boarding passes for both airlines upon check-in from any Hawaii airport, enjoy seamless connections aboard America West via Hawaiian's daily direct flights into Phoenix, and earn mileage credits that can be redeemed as travel awards with Hawaiian's HawaiianMiles and America West's FlightFund frequent flyer programs.

"We're pleased to give Hawaiian's customers access to even more of America West's extensive service in North America," said Dion Flannery, vice president, scheduling, route planning and Internet distribution, America West Airlines. "This is a great example of how a successful partnership can continue to grow to benefit both airlines and their customers."

Hawaiian's customers can book connecting flights on both carriers through the airline's Web site at www.HawaiianAir.com, as long as reservations are made at least 14 days before departure to allow for mailing of tickets. Reservations can also be made by calling Hawaiian toll-free at 1-800-367-5320, or through any professional travel agent. HawaiianMiles members can book their travel by calling toll-free at 1-877-426-4537.
America West customers may book flights to Hawaii by calling 1-800-2-FLY-AWA (1-800-235-9292) and 1-800-363-2592 for conventions and meetings.

Hawaiian and America West have been operating a code share agreement since October 11, 2002, when Hawaiian launched daily, nonstop service between Honolulu and Phoenix, a major hub for America West. Hawaiian is the only carrier providing scheduled nonstop service between Hawaii and Phoenix.

Code sharing allows an airline to sell seats on another carrier by attaching its two-letter booking code to the other carrier's flights listed in worldwide computer reservations systems.
