Hawaiian Airlines is #1 at Filling Seats in November

Tops All Carriers for Year-to-Date Load Factor Through 11 Months and Still Improving

HONOLULU -- Hawaiian Airlines again showed that no other carrier does a better job at putting passengers in seats by recording the nation's best marks in load factor for both November and through the first 11 months of 2004.

Hawaiian today released its traffic statistics showing it had an 87.4 percent load factor for systemwide service in November. Filling out the top five were JetBlue, 83.8 percent; Spirit, 78.3 percent; Northwest, 77.7 percent; and Continental, 77.6 percent, according to statistics published by Aviation Daily. The industry average for all reporting airlines was 73.9 percent, which is 13.5 percentage points behind Hawaiian.

Hawaiian improved its load factor, revenue passenger miles (RPMs), and available seat miles (ASMs) compared to November 2003, although its passenger count declined by 6.3 percent.

Year-to-date, Hawaiian continues to lead all carriers in load factor with 85.9 percent, its highest mark for the year and an increase of 6.0 percentage points over 2003. Notably, Hawaiian has held the top spot for every month of 2004 and, even more impressively, increased its overall load factor with each succeeding month. The rest of the top five were JetBlue, 83.3 percent; Northwest, 80.4 percent; United, 79.4 percent; and Spirit, 79.1 percent.

Through November, Hawaiian continued to maintain its year-to-date improvement in all traffic categories compared to 2003, highlighted by an 11.5 percent increase in RPMs.
