Hawaiian Airlines “Mainland Madness” Promotion Offers Free or Discounted Tickets to West Coast

HONOLULU – Aug. 3, 2009 - Starting Aug. 3, Hawaii residents can earn huge discounts on Hawaiian Airlines’ flights to the mainland by simply scheduling their interisland travel prior to 10:00 a.m. and after 2:00 p.m. as part of its new “Mainland Madness” promotion.

The formula is straightforward – one roundtrip to any Hawaiian island gets you 10 percent off the price of your next mainland ticket, two roundtrips knocks off 20 percent and so on until 10 roundtrips get you a free round trip ticket to any mainland city served by Hawaiian. To qualify, interisland flights must have departure times before 10:00 a.m. or after 2:00 p.m. and you must be signed up as a member of the HawaiianMiles program.

“Mainland Madness puts you in charge of fares,” said Glenn Taniguchi, senior vice president of Marketing and Sales. “It’s a great offer – you’ve got four whole months to rack up discounts with interisland travel and 10 months to redeem them for your mainland flights. There are no blackout dates.”

To make it even simpler, Hawaiian will automatically track flights and post the discounts into customer e-accounts. As a bonus, interisland and transpacific travel continues to earn the usual HawaiianMiles credits, making it easier to achieve discounted or free flights.

The earning period for interisland flights is August 3 – December 31, 2009. The travel and booking period for transpacific flights is August 3, 2009 – June 15, 2010. The maximum discount for the “Mainland Madness” promotion is two free roundtrips between Hawaii and the Mainland U.S.
