HONOLULU – Hawaiian Airlines, Hawai’i’s largest and longest-serving carrier, today announced a partnership with Korean celebrity chef Chang-Wook Chung to create in-flight meals for all guests traveling from Incheon to Honolulu in both the Business and Main Cabins as well as in Extra Comfort.

Starting Dec. 1, guests will enjoy meals showcasing the harmonious blend of Hawaiian and Korean fare, designed exclusively for the airline by one of Korea’s most notable chefs. Hawaiian’s partnership with Chef Chung highlights the carrier’s commitment to provide an experience tailored to its guests.

“Hawaiian Airlines is proud to enhance its offerings by partnering with a renowned Korean chef,” said Soojin Yu, Hawaiian Airlines Country Director – South Korea. “Guests will enjoy Pan Asian and island-style cuisine as they relax on their journey across the Pacific.”

Chef Chung is an expert in French and Japanese cuisine as well as the owner and chef of restaurant Bistro Chaugi located in Jongno-gu, Seoul. His culinary excellence has been widely recognized by the Korean public, and he has appeared in several notable Korean television programs. Feeling a strong personal attachment to Hawai’i, Chef Chung has returned to the islands every year since his very first visit over a decade ago.

“During my first visit to Hawai’i over ten years ago, I instantly fell in love with the Hawaiian culture and hospitality,” said Chef Chung. “I try to combine my experiences in Hawai’i into my own style of cooking and am delighted to share the Aloha Spirit through Hawaiian Airlines’ in-flight meals.”

For Business Class guests departing from Incheon to Honolulu, dishes include braised Korean kalbi with radish, miso soup, steamed brown rice, Kimchi, and pickled radish served after take-off. Prior to landing, guests may choose between a full breakfast with chicken cream stew with carrots, broccoli, and potatoes or a light continental breakfast. Guests in Extra Comfort and Main Cabin will be treated to steamed beef with burdock and thin konjac, steamed white rice, celery and pineapple salad, and a Honolulu Cookie Company macadamia nut cookie.

Prior to departure, the airline will also offer a signature, island-infused Mai Tai to Business Class guests. Hawaiian’s in-flight meals are updated every six months and new selections are based on seasonal ingredients and guest preference.

Hawaiian, which launched service to Incheon International Airport on January 12, 2011, offers five nonstop flights weekly between Seoul and Honolulu. In addition to complimentary meals by renowned chefs, the airline also offers a range of enhanced amenities such the newly announced Premium Cabin with lie-flat seating, additional Extra Comfort seating, renovated airport lounges and locally made in-flight products – all part of Hawaiian's commitment to providing guests with a relaxing travel experience and authentic Hawaiian hospitality.
