Hawaiian Airlines Promotes Kathy Wong-Nakamura to Managing Director of Application Development and Maintenance

HONOLULU – August 29, 2011 - Hawaiian Airlines announced the promotion of Kathy Wong-Nakamura to the new position of managing director of application development and maintenance. She had held the title of interim managing director since January.

Hawaiian created this position to provide added support to the company’s information technology needs as its operations expand, with the addition of more aircraft and employees and the increase of service to new and existing routes. Wong-Nakamura’s responsibilities include development and implementation of program applications and technology integration solutions, and providing production support to ensure operational efficiencies.

“Hawaiian’s IT needs are growing as rapidly as our flight operations and this promotion of Kathy reflects our belief in her expertise to keep our operations efficient and productive,” said David Osborne, Hawaiian’s chief information officer.

Wong-Nakamura joined Hawaiian in 2006 as manager of systems development and earned several promotions leading up to her newest appointment. Before joining Hawaiian, she spent 13 years at Kamehameha Schools, starting as a systems analyst and working her way up to integration and development manager. Altogether, Wong-Nakamura has more than 20 years of information technology experience in an array of disciplines, including programming, system analysis, new application implementations, system integration, and project management.

Wong-Nakamura is a graduate of the University of Hawaii at Manoa, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in management. She also earned a Bachelor’s degree in computer science from Roosevelt University and is certified as a Project Management Professional.
