HONOLULU – March 09, 2010 - Hawaiian Airlines was the nation’s highest-ranked carrier for January in three top categories valued by travelers – on-time performance, fewest cancellations, and fewest misplaced bags – as reported in the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (DOT) monthly
Air Travel Consumer Report.
Hawaiian finished January as the industry’s most punctual airline with 86.7 percent of its flights arriving on schedule.
Hawaii’s largest and longest-serving carrier complemented its on-time reliability during the month with the industry’s best score for fewest cancelled flights at 0.1 percent, or only four cancellations out of 5,734 total flights.
Hawaiian also earned the industry’s #1 ranking for quality of baggage handling in January, reporting an industry-low 1.96 mishandled baggage reports for every 1,000 passengers served.
Hawaiian is the nation’s largest provider of air service to Hawaii from the Western U.S., as well as the leading carrier for interisland service between the islands of Hawaii. In two of the past three years, Hawaiian has been the nation’s #1-ranked carrier in the annual Airline Quality Rating study, which conducts a comprehensive evaluation of the nation’s leading carriers and their service performance based on 15 elements important to consumers when assessing the quality of airline services.
