Hawaiian Airlines Reports August Traffic Statistics

HONOLULU, September 17, 1997 -- In systemwide service during August 1997, Hawaiian Airlines recorded Revenue Passenger Miles (RPMs) of 410,303,000, an increase of 12.4 percent from 365136,000 RPMs reported for the same month in 1996.

Available Seat Miles (ASMs) in August 1997 were 480,304,000, an increase of 6.9 percent from 449,366,000 ASMs recorded in August 1996.

Systemwide Load Factor (LF) in August 1997 was 84.1 percent, an increase of 4.1 points from 81.3 percent in August 1996.

Hawaiian carried 508,199 passengers in August 1997, an increase of 1.5 percent from 500,604 passengers reported for August 1996.

Cargo Ton Miles (CTMs) flown in August 1997 were 4,387,000, an increase of 19.8 percent from 3,662,000 flown in August 1996.

Year-To-Date

For the first eight months of 1997, Hawaiian recorded total RPMs of 2,916,733,000, an increase of 12.3 percent from 2,598,067,000 RPMs recorded for the same period in 1996.

Through August, total 1997 ASMs were 3,718,435,000, an increase of 9.6 percent from 3,392,084,000 ASMs recorded for the first eight months in 1996.

Average 1997 systemwide Load Factor through August was 78.4 percent, an increase of 1.8 points from 76.6 percent for the same period last year.

Hawaiian carried a total of 3,603,708 passengers during the first eight months of 1997, an increase of 1.3 percent from 3,556,385 carried during the same period in 1996.

Cargo Ton Miles through August were 38,196,000, an increase of 16.9 percent from 32,663,000 for the first eight months of 1996.
