Hawaiian Airlines Reports July Traffic Statistics

HONOLULU, August 18, 1997 -- In systemwide service during July 1997, Hawaiian Airlines recorded Revenue Passenger Miles (RPMs) of 391,088,000, an increase of 22.7 percent from 318,864,000 RPMs reported for the same month in 1996.

Available Seat Miles (ASMs) in July 1997 were 472,011,000, an increase of 9.5 percent from 430,869,000 ASMs recorded in July 1996.

Systemwide Load Factor (LF) in July 1997 was 82.9 percent, an increase of 8.9 points from 74.0 percent in July 1996.

Hawaiian carried 469,563 passengers in July 1997, an increase of 5.7 percent from 444,344 passengers reported for July 1996.

Cargo Ton Miles (CTMs) flown in July 1997 were 5,209,000, an increase of 27.4 percent from 4,088,000 flown in July 1996.

Year-To-Date

For the first seven months of 1997, Hawaiian recorded total RPMs of 2,506,431,000, an increase of 12.2 percent from 2,232,931,000 RPMs recorded for the same period in 1996.

Through July, total 1997 ASMs were 3,238,131,000, an increase of 10.0 percent from 2,942,718,000 ASMs recorded for the first seven months in 1996.

Average 1997 systemwide Load Factor through July was 77.4 percent, an increase of 1.5 points from 75.9 percent for the same period last year.

Hawaiian carried a total of 3,095,509 passengers during the first seven months of 1997, an increase of 1.3 percent from 3,055,781 carried during the same period in 1996.

Cargo Ton Miles through July were 33,809,000, an increase of 16.6 percent from 29,001,000 for the first seven months of 1996.
