HONOLULU, June 17, 1997 -- In systemwide service during May 1997, Hawaiian Airlines recorded Revenue Passenger Miles (RPMs) of 372,728,000, an increase of 16.7 percent from 319,491,000 RPMs reported for the same month in 1996.
Available Seat Miles (ASMs) in May 1997 were 467,199,000, an increase of 9.4 percent from 426,906,000 ASMs recorded in May 1996.
Systemwide Load Factor (LF) in May 1997 was 79.8 percent, an increase of 5.0 points from 74.8 percent in May 1996.
Hawaiian carried 439,834 passengers in May 1997, an increase of 4.3 percent from 421,765 passengers reported for May 1996.
Cargo Ton Miles (CTMs) flown in May 1997 were 5,525,000, an increase of 15.5 percent from 4,784,000 flown in May 1996.

For the first five months of 1997, Hawaiian recorded total RPMs of 1,728,161,000, an increase of 9.4 percent from 1,579,302,000 RPMs recorded for the same period in 1996.
Through May, total 1997 ASMs were 2,316,027,000, an increase of 11.2 percent from 2,083,216,000 ASMs recorded for the first five months in 1996.
Average 1997 systemwide Load Factor through May was 74.6 percent, a decrease of 1.2 points from 75.8 percent for the same period last year.
Hawaiian carried a total of 2,177,529 passengers during the first five months of 1997, an increase of 0.4 percent from 2,168,811 carried during the same period in 1996.
Cargo Ton Miles through May were 24,384,000, an increase of 18.0 percent from 20,659,000 for the first five months of 1996.
