HONOLULU, October 13, 1998 -- In systemwide service during September 1998, Hawaiian Airlines recorded Revenue Passenger Miles (RPMs) of 349,271,000, an increase of 18.0 percent from 295,889,000 RPMs reported for the same month in 1997. Available Seat Miles (ASMs) in September 1998 were 462,202,000, an increase of 13.1 percent from 408,549,000 ASMs recorded in September 1997. Systemwide Load Factor (LF) in September 1998 was 75.6 percent, an increase of 3.2 points from 72.4 percent in September 1997. Hawaiian carried 401,709 passengers in September 1998, an increase of 5.0 percent from 382,654 passengers reported for September 1997. Third Quarter For the third quarter of 1998, Hawaiian recorded total RPMs of 1,158,677,000, an increase of 4.5 percent from 1,109,210,000 RPMs recorded for the same quarter in 1997. During the third quarter of 1998, total ASMs were 1,445,875,000, an increase of 4.7 percent from 1,380,594,000 ASMs recorded during the same period in 1997. Average 1998 systemwide Load Factor for the third quarter was 80.1 percent, a decrease of 0.2 points from 80.3 percent for the same period in 1997. Hawaiian carried a total of 1,393,262 passengers during the third quarter of 1998, an increase of 0.5 percent from 1,386,223 carried during the same quarter in 1997. Year-To-Date For the first nine months of 1998, Hawaiian recorded total RPMs of 3,263,412,000, an increase of 1.6 percent from 3,212,622,000 RPMs recorded for the same period in 1997. Through September, total 1998 ASMs were 4,248,428,000, an increase of 2.9 percent from 4,126,983,000 ASMs recorded for the first nine months in 1997. Average 1998 systemwide Load Factor through September was 76.8 percent, a decrease of 1.0 points from 77.8 percent for the same period in 1997. Hawaiian carried a total of 3,972,573 passengers during the first nine months of 1998, a decrease of 0.3 percent from 3,986,362 carried during the same period in 1997.
