Hawaiian Airlines Reports September Traffic Statistics

HONOLULU, October 16, 1997 -- In systemwide service during September 1997, Hawaiian Airlines recorded Revenue Passenger Miles (RPMs) of 295,889,000, a decrease of 2.6 percent from 303,685,000 RPMs reported for the same month in 1996.

Available Seat Miles (ASMs) in September 1997 were 408,549,000, a decrease of 4.9 percent from 429,590,000 ASMs recorded in September 1996.

Systemwide Load Factor (LF) in September 1997 was 72.4 percent, an increase of 1.7 points from 70.7 percent in September 1996.

Hawaiian carried 382,654 passengers in September 1997, an increase of 3.3 percent from 370,561 passengers reported for September 1996.

Cargo Ton Miles (CTMs) flown in September 1997 were 4,201,000, an increase of 8.7 percent from 3,865,000 flown in September 1996.

Year-To-Date

For the first nine months of 1997, Hawaiian recorded total RPMs of 3,212,622,000, an increase of 10.7 percent from 2,901,752,000 RPMs recorded for the same period in 1996.

Through September, total 1997 ASMs were 4,126,984,000, an increase of 8.0 percent from 3,821,674,000 ASMs recorded for the first nine months in 1996.

Average 1997 systemwide Load Factor through September was 77.8 percent, an increase of 1.9 points from 75.9 percent for the same period last year.

Hawaiian carried a total of 3,986,362 passengers during the first nine months of 1997, an increase of 1.5 percent from 3,926,946 carried during the same period in 1996.

Cargo Ton Miles through September were 42,397,000, an increase of 16.1 percent from 36,527,000 for the first nine months of 1996.
