Hawaiian Airlines Schedules Special Flights to Help Bring Hawaii Students Home For the Holidays

HONOLULU, April 21, 1999 - To compensate for extraordinarily high demand for air travel to Hawaii for turn-of-the-millennium observances, Hawaiian Airlines has scheduled two special flights to accommodate Hawaii students attending college on the West Coast to fly home for the holidays in December, and two return flights to the mainland in early January. Hawaiian is also offering a special student fare in conjunction with the special flights.

"Marketplace demand created by this once-in-a-lifetime event has us concerned that local families may be priced out of the market with the prevailing rates for millennium period travel, so we're doing what we can to help," said John Happ, Hawaiian Airlines senior vice president for sales and marketing.

"With limited aircraft and crew resources to spare during this busy time, we've done our best to schedule the flights as close to common vacation schedules as possible."

On December 17, Hawaiian Flight 1031 will depart Seattle at 10:30 p.m. and arrive in Honolulu at 2:20 a.m. the next morning.

On December 18, Hawaiian Flight 1033 will depart Las Vegas at 5:25 a.m., stop at Los Angeles at 6:45 a.m. and continue to Honolulu at 8:00 a.m., arriving at 11:25 a.m.

The return flights from Honolulu are scheduled as follows:

On January 1, 2000, Hawaiian Flight 1034 will depart Honolulu at 11:55 p.m. and arrive at Los Angeles at 7 a.m. the next morning.

On January 2, Hawaiian Flight 1032 will depart Honolulu at 11:10 p.m. and arrive at Seattle at 6:30 a.m. the next morning.

A special roundtrip student fare of $439 plus tax for the special student flights only is available through travel agents or Hawaiian Airlines. Tickets at the special fare are nonrefundable. Passengers must be or become members of the HawaiianMiles frequent flyer program, and show a valid student ID at check-in for the special student flights. Seats are limited; other restrictions apply.
