Hawaiian Airlines to Add Fourth Flight to Weekly Brisbane Service

HONOLULU - December 4, 2013 - Travelers from Hawai'i and the U.S. Mainland who want to visit Australia's "Sunshine State" will have some extra schedule options next year. In response to booming demand from both U.S. and Aussie travelers, Hawaiian Airlines will be adding a fourth flight to its weekly non-stop service schedule between Honolulu and Brisbane, beginning March 31, 2014. The expansion will add more than 20,000 seats to the Australia-Honolulu travel markets in 2014.
 
"We recently celebrated one year as the only U.S. carrier to offer non-stop service to Brisbane, and the response we've received since then has exceeded our expectations," said Peter Ingram, Hawaiian's executive vice president and chief commercial officer. "The schedule expansion is part of our ongoing plans to grow our Oceania market, allowing more Aussie travelers to visit the Hawaiian Islands via Honolulu and connect to any of our 11 U.S. destination gateways. The expansion also provides U.S. travelers more options and more of a reason to visit Australia."
 

After the fourth flight is added to the weekly service, Hawaiian Airlines plans to also adjust the days of operation for the Brisbane route beginning Apr. 14, 2014:

Hawaiian Airlines launched non-stop service to Brisbane in November 2012 and at the time projected an approximate 41,000 seats would be added to both travel markets from the route. Thanks to popular demand, Hawaiian Airlines has exceeded that expectation, transporting more than 65,000 passengers between Brisbane and Honolulu to date.

 

Hawaiian Airlines is the only U.S. carrier that flies to Brisbane, capital city of the State of Queensland and known as the "Sunshine State," which also serves as a key hub for onward travel throughout Australia. Its flight schedule to Brisbane allows travelers to connect with same-day flights throughout Queensland and to other states through a partner airline carrier. The route is operated by Hawaiian Airlines' wide-body, twin-aisle Boeing 767-300ER aircraft, seating 264 passengers in a two-class cabin, with 18 in Business Class and 246 in the Main Cabin.
