Hawaiian Airlines Update 1 - 11:45 a.m. HST
HONOLULU, September 11, 2001 -- Hawaiian Airlines has been advised by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) that all U.S. airports will remain closed until at least 12 noon Eastern Time tomorrow (6:00 a.m., Hawaii Standard Time). As a result, Hawaiian has now cancelled all flight operations through that time.
Hawaiian Airlines had 171 flights scheduled to operate today, with a total passenger count in excess of 11,000. Customers are being asked to call a special toll free telephone number -- 1-888-222-1699 (or, on Oahu, 838-5444) -- for assistance rebooking their flights. Hawaiian is waiving change fees however, differences in fares will be collected for all customers scheduled to travel between September 11 through September 25, 2001. Hawaiian is not accepting air cargo shipments until further notice.
