Hawaiian Airlines Update 2 - 6:30 a.m. HST
HONOLULU, September 12, 2001 -- Hawaiian Airlines has been advised by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) that new security measures are being put into place at all U.S. airports. The company has not yet received notification of when airports will reopen, but is planning to resume service as soon as possible once that notification is received and all security directives have been met.
Travelers are advised that, once airports are reopened, increased security procedures will require more time for passenger check-in and boarding. Hawaiian Airlines recommends that passengers to plan to arrive at the airport three hours prior to their scheduled departure to accommodate these requirements.
Customers wishing to change reservations are asked to call a special toll free telephone number -- 1-888-222-1699 (or, on Oahu, 838-5444) -- for assistance rebooking their flights. Hawaiian is waiving change fees however, differences in fares will be collected for all customers scheduled to travel between September 11 through September 25, 2001. Call for further details.
Hawaiian is not accepting air cargo shipments until further notice.
