Hawaiian Fare$hopper Guarantees Airline's Lowest Fares Online

New Web Tool Gives Customers Unique 7-Day Fare Display at HawaiianAirlines.com

HONOLULU –- Hawaiian Airlines, America's #1 on-time airline and the top carrier serving Hawaii according to two national travel publications, has unveiled a revolutionary booking feature at HawaiianAirlines.com guaranteeing customers its lowest airfares.

“Customers no longer have to search for Hawaiian's best fares,” said Mark Dunkerley, Hawaiian's president and chief operating officer. “Our new Hawaiian Fare$hopper does it with one click. Now, Hawaiian's customers can instantly find our lowest fares, guaranteed.”

Hawaiian Fare$hopper is simple, but incredibly effective. Customers making travel plans online see a comprehensive display of prices and availability over a seven-day window on one screen allowing them to shop for the best fares.

For HawaiianMiles members, special discounts below Hawaiian's lowest fares are automatically displayed when using the online booking feature. Enrollment in the frequent flyer program is free, fast, and there are no obligations or annual fees. New members can sign up online and immediately earn discounts.

How does Hawaiian do it? The airline maintains its own pricing database and is not restricted by fare contracts with third-party online providers like other carriers serving Hawaii. The result: Hawaiian has complete flexibility to guarantee that its lowest fares will be found on its website and nowhere else.

“After studying other airline websites, we decided the best way to serve our customers was letting them see our guaranteed lowest fares and giving them more control over their buying decision,” said Rick Peterson, Hawaiian's senior director of e-business and marketing programs.

Hawaiian unveiled the new website and booking engine on March 1. Since then, Peterson says customer response has been extraordinary, with online bookings soaring above previous levels. “The reaction and booking pace has far exceeded our expectations,” he noted.

Peterson added that, unlike Hawaiian, most airline websites make customers select their travel itinerary without seeing the price for the selected days and without being able to compare airfares from one day to next, much less for a whole week.

Hawaiian's new website is easier to follow, faster to operate, and uses the airline's evocative Follow Me Home imagery to promote travel to Hawaii.

Hawaiian Fare$hopper is the latest in a series of online customer conveniences the airline has introduced recently, which includes web check-in, instant HawaiianMiles enrollment, and special member discount e-certificates.

The website is also a product of Hawaiian's homegrown talent. While most airlines and other companies outsource website programming, Hawaiian's redesigned website and booking engine was envisioned, designed and implemented in-house by its six-person staff of marketing information technology professionals, using Microsoft's revolutionary Dot Net technology.
