Hawaiian Flew 96% On Time, No Cancellations in September

HONOLULU – November 08, 2012 - Hawaiian Airlines’ ability to stay on schedule was close to perfect in September, with Hawai‘i’s leading carrier ranking first nationally in both on-time performance and fewest cancelled flights, as reported today by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT)’s Air Travel Consumer Report.

Hawaiian’s flights arrived on time at its destinations in September at the rate of 96.4 percent – exceeding the industry average by 13.1 percentage points – to earn the DOT’s top spot in the rankings of the nation’s 15 largest airlines.

Complementing Hawaiian’s reliability for travelers during September was the fact that none of its 6,005 scheduled flights were cancelled, also earning it the #1 ranking in the DOT report.

In addition, Hawaiian ranked third in the category of fewest oversales, or passengers denied boarding, for both the third quarter at 0.14 percent for every 10,000 passengers, and year-to-date through the first three quarters at 0.18 percent per 10,000 passengers (DOT reports oversales quarterly.)

Hawaiian provides daily nonstop service to Hawai‘i from 11 gateway cities in North America – more cities than any other carrier – using Airbus A330-200 and Boeing 767-300 aircraft, making it the only carrier to offer wide-body, twin-aisle aircraft for all transpacific flights.

Hawai‘i’s largest and longest-serving carrier is also the leading provider of air service between the islands of Hawai‘i.

About Hawaiian Airlines

Hawaiian has led all U.S. carriers in on-time performance for each of the past eight years (2004-2011) as reported by the U.S. Department of Transportation. Hawaiian offers nonstop service to Hawai‘i from more U.S. gateway cities (11) than any other airline, along with service from Japan, South Korea, the Philippines, Australia, American Samoa, and Tahiti. New nonstop service will begin between Honolulu and Brisbane, Australia (November 27, 2012), and Auckland, New Zealand (March 13, 2013).
