Hawaiian Flying Oakland Raiders for 12th Season

HONOLULU – September 09, 2011 - Extending a winning partnership that began in 2000, Hawaiian Airlines will provide the Oakland Raiders football team with charter flights and a special inflight service for road games this NFL season, the 12th consecutive year.

“Hawaiian does an outstanding job taking care of the road game travel needs of the Oakland Raiders organization,” said Raiders Executive Marc Badain. “The fact that we are marking our 12th straight year together shows the value we place in Hawaiian as a teammate in Raider football.”

Hawaiian is flying the players, coaches and staff of the ‘Silver and Black’ from Oakland to the following road games throughout the country during the 2011 regular season: Denver, Buffalo, San Diego, Minneapolis, Miami, Green Bay, and Kansas City. Hawaiian kicked off its premium service for the Raiders with an early September trip to Seattle for the team’s final preseason contest.

For each flight, Hawaiian provides a dedicated catering coordinator to ensure the team’s expectations are met and to handle special requests. Players are treated to a First Class menu service designed to keep them fresh, energized and fully nourished to complement their training while traveling.

Extra-large meals are provided along with sandwiches and an assortment of healthy snacks that includes fresh fruit, protein bars, and, at the Raiders’ request, products from Hawaii, such as Passion Orange Guava Juice and Hawaiian Iced Tea. For entertainment, up to three first-run movies are shown. The spaciousness of Hawaiian’s wide-body, twin-aisle Boeing 767-300 aircraft is especially popular with the players. With up to 264 seats, players have the opportunity to spread out in the cabin and make themselves as comfortable as possible, often taking up an entire row of seats.

Glenn Taniguchi, Hawaiian’s senior vice president of marketing and sales, said, “We take tremendous pride in being the Raiders’ airline of choice for all these years and look forward to taking care of the team as we carry them to road games again this season.”

Hawaiian currently offers daily, nonstop service between Oakland and Honolulu, and will launch nonstop service, four times weekly, between Oakland and Maui in January 2012.

Hawaiian is the only carrier serving Hawaii that uses wide-body, twin-aisle aircraft for all of its flights, and also provides complimentary meals in Economy Class. Hawaiian’s authentic “Hawaii Flies With Us” inflight service embraces customers with the sights, sounds and tastes of the Hawaiian Islands throughout the flight.
