Hawaiian is America's Most Reliable Airline in July

#1 for On-Time Service, Fewest Cancellations, and Best Baggage Handling

HONOLULU – In July, no carrier in America was better at serving its customers than Hawaiian Airlines, according to the findings of the U.S. Department of Transportation's (DOT) monthly Air Travel Consumer Report. Hawaiian finished #1 nationally for on-time performance, fewest flight cancellations, and handling customers' luggage.

Hawaiian led all carriers nationally in punctuality in July for the 21st consecutive month, with 96.4 percent of its flights arriving on time, a whopping 25.5 percentage points above the industry average of 70.9 percent. (To meet DOT standards, a flight must arrive within 15 minutes of schedule to be considered on time.)

Hawaiian also finished #1 among all carriers with fewest flight cancellations, and was also the nation's best at taking care of customers' luggage. Hawaiian had only four cancellations out of 4,400 total flights for an industry-low score of 0.1 percent. The airline also led all carriers by averaging only 3.45 mishandled baggage reports for every 1,000 passengers carried.

In the category of consumer complaints, although DOT received only six complaints about Hawaiian out of more than 547,000 passengers served in July, the airline ranked 13th overall.

The DOT report covers 20 airlines, including seven carriers providing service to Hawaii. The full report is available online at http://airconsumer.ost.dot.gov/reports/atcr05.htm.
