Hawaiian Leads All Airlines in Service Excellence for February

Nation's #1 in Punctuality, Fewest Cancellations and Best Baggage Handling

HONOLULU – Apr. 3, 2006 - Hawaiian Airlines continued to reaffirm the industry's highest standard of service excellence in February, leading all carriers nationally in on-time performance, fewest flight cancellations and best baggage handling.

The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) today issued February's Air Travel Consumer Report giving Hawaiian the highest scores. Hawaiian also topped the nation's carriers in the three key service categories for all of 2005, then duplicated the achievement in January.

“Month after month, our employees prove there is no better, more reliable airline serving Hawaii than Hawaiian Airlines,” said Mark Dunkerley, president and CEO.

For the 28th consecutive month dating back to November 2003, Hawaiian led the nation's airlines in punctuality with 94.3 percent of its flights arriving on time in February, surpassing the industry average of 75.3 percent by 19.0 percentage points. (To meet DOT standards, a flight must arrive within 15 minutes of schedule to be considered on time.)

Matching Hawaiian's #1 on-time ranking was the industry's best results for fewest cancelled flights, with only six cancellations out of 3,744 total flights in February.

Hawaiian also finished the month as the nation's top-rated airline for baggage handling, recording an industry-low 3.0 mishandled baggage reports for every 1,000 passengers.

In addition, Hawaiian ranked fourth overall in consumer complaints, despite having only one complaint submitted to DOT from the 460,000 passengers served in February.

The DOT report covers 19 airlines, including eight carriers currently providing service to Hawaii. The full report is available online at http://airconsumer.ost.dot.gov/reports/atcr06.htm.
