Hawaiian Leads Industry with 93.6% On-Time Performance in June

HONOLULU – Aug. 10, 2010 - Hawaiian Airlines led the nation in June as the best on-time airline with 93.6 percent of its flights arriving on schedule, exceeding the industry average by 17.2 percentage points.

 

The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) today released its

Air Travel Consumer Report for the month of June and first two quarters of 2010 showing that Hawaiian was continuing to lead the nation’s carriers in overall performance and quality of service to travelers.

 

Hawaiian ranked second for the lowest rate of flight cancellations during June at 0.1 percent, representing only seven cancellations out of 5,864 total flights.

 

In addition, the DOT report showed that Hawaiian scored the industry’s second highest ranking for fewest misplaced bags for June at 1.83 mishandled baggage reports for every 1,000 passengers, and for the first two quarters at 1.79 mishandled baggage reports per 1,000 passengers.

 

Hawaiian also ranked second in the industry for fewest oversales, or passengers denied boarding, for the second quarter at 0.03 percent for every 10,000 passengers, as well as through the first two quarters at 0.08 percent per 10,000 passengers (DOT reports oversales quarterly).

 

Hawaiian Airlines is the largest provider of air service to Hawaii from the Western U.S., as well as the leading carrier for interisland service between the islands of Hawaii.
