Hawaiian Ranked #1 for Punctuality, Baggage Handling in March

HONOLULU – May 7, 2008 - Hawaiian Airlines has been ranked as the nation's #1 carrier for on-time performance and baggage handling in March, this according to the monthly Air Travel Consumer Report issued today by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT).

Hawaiian had the best on-time record nationwide in March with 94.5 percent of its flights arriving as scheduled, which was 22.9 percentage points above the industry average of 71.6 percent. Hawaiian has been the nation's most punctual carrier for 45 of the past 53 months dating back to November 2003. (To meet DOT standards, a flight must arrive within 15 minutes of schedule to be considered on time.)

Hawaiian also ranked as the airline industry's #1 carrier in March for fewest misplaced bags, with only 2.44 mishandled baggage reports for every 1,000 passengers.

In the category of oversales, which are reported quarterly, Hawaiian finished second overall for fewest passengers denied boarding, with a score of 0.09 percent for every 10,000 passengers served during first quarter 2008.

Hawaiian ranked third nationally in March for fewest cancelled flights at 0.8 percent, representing 36 flight cancellations out of 4,705 total flights.
