HONOLULU – August 14, 2012 - Hawaiian Airlines today announced great news for Bay Area residents who love Maui: Hawaiian is doubling its nonstop flights to 14 per week year-round between the Bay Area and Maui.
Effective October 3, Hawaiian will fly daily to Maui from both Oakland and San José.
Except for a six-week seasonal summer increase in service, Hawaiian has been offering four flights per week between Oakland and Maui, and three flights per week between San José and Maui since January 2012. By expanding to daily service on both routes, Hawaiian is adding nearly 90,000 new air seats annually to Maui.
The increase in service to Maui is the result of Hawaiian’s realignment of Bay Area flight schedules to better match capacity with consumer demand.
Peter Ingram, Hawaiian’s executive vice president and chief commercial officer, said, “We’ve seen tremendous demand for service to Maui from our customers in Oakland and San José, so we’re adjusting our schedules to better match their needs.”
Concurrent with the increase in service to Maui, Hawaiian’s daily service to Honolulu from Oakland will go to four days per week, and service to Honolulu from San José will go to three days per week.
Hawaiian will continue to offer daily service between San Francisco and Honolulu.
The increased Maui service will strengthen Hawaiian’s new Maui hub at Kahului Airport, offering expanded options for nonstop service and easy connections to neighbor island airports on Kaua‘i (Lïhu‘e) and Hawai‘i Island (Hilo and Kona).
Hawaiian will continue to operate its roomy wide-body, twin-aisle Boeing 767-300 aircraft on its Bay Area flights to Maui. Hawaiian is the only carrier serving Hawai‘i from the U.S. mainland that offers the comfort of wide-body aircraft on all of its flights.
Travelers will also enjoy Hawaiian’s newly redesigned inflight hospitality program. Called ‘Mea Ho‘okipa’ (translation: I am host), Hawaiian’s signature onboard service features island-style complimentary meals, made-in-Hawai‘i snacks, and improved service offerings to go along with its distinctive showcase of the islands’ culture, people and Aloha Spirit during the flight.
Special Fare Sale for Oakland, San José Flights
As part of today’s announcement, Hawaiian is offering a special fare sale for travel between both Oakland and San José and all the airports Hawaiian serves in Hawai‘i, with round-trip prices starting at:
$381 Kahului
$351 Lïhu‘e, Hilo, Kona (For this fare, flight connections must go through Kahului)
$361 Honolulu
Tickets must be purchased by August 20 for travel completed by December 13, 2012. The special fares include all taxes and fees. Prices are subject to change and based on seat availability.
New Schedules from Oakland, San José to Maui
Starting October 3, Hawaiian’s Flight HA 23 will depart Oakland International Airport daily at 8:20 a.m. and arrive at Kahului Airport on Maui at 10:40 a.m. The return flight HA 24 will depart Maui daily at 12:50 p.m. and arrive in Oakland at 8:45 p.m.
Hawaiian’s Flight HA 45 will depart Mineta San José International Airport daily at 8:00 a.m. and arrive in Maui at 10:10 a.m. The return flight HA 46 will depart Maui at 12:10 p.m. and arrive in San José at 8:05 p.m.
New Schedules from Oakland, San José to Honolulu
Starting October 3, Hawaiian’s Flight HA 47 will depart Oakland International Airport on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 9:55 a.m. and arrive at Honolulu International Airport at 12:15 p.m. The return flight HA 48 will depart Honolulu on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 1:50 p.m. and arrive in Oakland at 10:00 p.m.
Hawaiian’s Flight 43 will depart Mineta San José International Airport on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday at 9:55 a.m. and arrive in Honolulu at 12:15 p.m. The return flight HA 44 will depart Honolulu on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 1:50 p.m. and arrive in San José at 9:55 p.m.
