Hawaiian's Inflight Entertainment Earns International Honors

Hawaii's Culture, Music, and People Highlighted on Trans-Pac Flights

HONOLULU -- With its onboard showcase of all that is magical about Hawaii and its people, Hawaiian Airlines has earned international honors for excellence in inflight entertainment.

The World Airline Entertainment Association announced the winners of the 16th Annual Avion Awards on September 24 in Seattle. Forty-four airlines worldwide submitted 212 entries in 11 categories of inflight entertainment involving video, audio, and print.

Hawaiian was named First Runner-Up in the category of “Best Video Magazine Style Program” behind Air France, and Second Runner-Up for “Best Inflight Audio Entertainment” behind winner American Airlines and Thai Airways.

“These results confirm what we've felt all along – that Hawaiian offers a world-class inflight entertainment program,” said Louis Saint-Cyr, Hawaiian's vice president of inflight services. “We made a great showing and impressed the international airline community with how Hawaiian highlights the qualities that make Hawaii such an incredibly special place. Through the innovation and artistic creativity our people bring to the onboard experience, Hawaiian is able to stand tall with the giants of the industry.”

From its video magazine and audio program to its award-winning Hana Hou! onboard magazine, Hawaiian's inflight entertainment program highlights Hawaii's culture, traditions, people, music, and places. In addition, inflight menu selections reflect Hawaii's multicultural flair and flight attendants are dressed in the bright and colorful attire of the islands.

“There's no better way for travelers to experience Hawaii while in the air,” said Saint-Cyr.

The Avion Awards is considered the international airline community's most prestigious honor for inflight entertainment. Entries were judged on originality, suitability, production value, content, and balance by an international panel representing the publishing, recording, and television/film industries.
