Hawaiian Tops for Baggage Handling in April

HONOLULU – Jun. 4, 2007 - Hawaiian Airlines recorded the nation's best scores for baggage handling and fewest cancelled flights in April, according to the monthly Air Travel Consumer Report released today by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT).

Hawaiian had the airline industry's top ranking for fewest misplaced bags at 2.75 bags for every 1,000 customers during April. Hawaiian was also the nation's #1 carrier for baggage handling in 2005 and 2006.

Additionally, Hawaiian reported the industry's best score for fewest cancelled flights at 0.2 percent, representing only 11 cancellations out of 4,565 total flights in April.

Hawaii's biggest and longest-serving carrier had 95.1 percent of its flights arrive on time during April, ranking second nationally. (To meet DOT standards, a flight must arrive within 15 minutes of schedule to be considered on time.)
