HONOLULU - Sep. 7, 2006 - Keeping travelers on schedule and taking care of their luggage is an airline's top service priorities. With today's release of the U.S. Department of Transportation's (DOT) Air Travel Consumer Report for July, Hawaiian Airlines has again demonstrated that no other carrier is consistently better at fulfilling these two key objectives.
Hawaiian's 95.8 percent on-time performance in July made it the 33rd consecutive month that Hawaii's biggest and longest-serving airline has led the nation in punctuality. (To meet DOT standards, a flight must arrive within 15 minutes of schedule to be considered on time.).
Hawaiian was also the nation's #1 airline in July with the handling of luggage, reporting an industry-best 2.66 mishandled baggage reports for every 1,000 passengers flown. July also marked the third consecutive month in which Hawaiian has earned the airline industry's top rankings for both on-time service and baggage handling.
Mark Dunkerley, Hawaiian's president and CEO, noted, “Our customers know that Hawaiian's employees aren't just striving to be the best, but actually producing a higher quality of service that keeps us atop the airline industry.”
Further emphasizing its service reliability, Hawaiian ranked second nationally in fewest cancelled flights during July, with only 11 cancellations out of 4,778 total flights, or 0.2 percent.
Although the DOT received only four complaints during the month compared to the more than 571,000 passengers served, Hawaiian ranked eighth overall in consumer complaints.
The DOT report covers 20 airlines, including 10 carriers providing service for Hawaii. The full report is available online at http://airconsumer.ost.dot.gov/reports/atcr06.htm.

Hawaiian was the nation's number one carrier for on-time service, fewest flight cancellations and best baggage service reliability in 2005, according to reports by the U.S. Department of Transportation.
