Hawaiian’s Reliability Tops in July with Best On-Time, Fewest Cancellations

HONOLULU – Sept. 08, 2009 - Hawaiian Airlines was the nation’s most reliable airline in July, earning #1 rankings for both on-time performance and fewest flight cancellations in the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (DOT) monthly Air Travel Consumer Report issued today.

Hawaiian recorded an on-time performance rate of 93.6 percent for the month of July, exceeding the industry average of 77.6 percent by 16.0 percentage points.

Complementing its punctuality, Hawaiian also had the industry’s lowest cancellation rate at 0.1 percent, the result of only four cancellations out of 6,645 total flights in July.

Hawaiian ranked second among all carriers for baggage handling, with an average of two mishandled baggage reports for every 1,000 passengers.

Hawaiian is the largest provider of air service to Hawaii from the Western U.S., as well as the leading carrier for interisland service among the islands of Hawaii.
