HONOLULU – December 12, 2011 - Hawaiian Airlines was the nation’s most reliable carrier at keeping travelers on schedule in October, earning the #1 rankings for both on-time performance and fewest canceled flights, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Air Travel Consumer Report issued today.
Hawaiian had 94.7 percent of its flights arrive on time throughout October to take the top spot in the DOT’s monthly ranking of punctuality by the nation’s 16 largest carriers.
In addition, Hawaiian complemented its industry-leading on-time performance with the industry’s best results for fewest flight cancellations in October, reporting nine cancellations out of 5,485 total flights, less than 0.2 percent.
Hawaiian is the largest provider of air service to Hawaii from the Western U.S. with daily nonstop flights from 10 gateway cities on Airbus A330-200 and Boeing 767-300 aircraft, making it the only carrier to use wide-body aircraft for all transpacific flights.
Hawaii’s largest and longest-serving carrier is also the leading provider of air service between Honolulu and the Neighbor Islands of Kauai, Maui and Hawaii Island.
